Who we are
1718 Coffee ("we", "us") is a speciality café and roastery in Egypt. This policy covers the 1718 Coffee mobile app and our website at 1718cafe.com. We are responsible for the personal information described here.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, mobile number and a password (stored only as a secure, one-way hash — we can never see it).
- Orders: what you order, your notes for the café, the order type (delivery, takeaway or at a table), the table number, and — for delivery — the address and directions you give us.
- Saved addresses, if you choose to save them for next time.
- Loyalty and membership: your loyalty card number and points, your membership plan, its dates and payments, and an optional email and student ID number if a plan needs one.
- Referrals: the friend code you used or shared, so both of you receive your points.
- Job applications (Careers): your name, mobile number, optional email, the role, your availability and experience, the area you live in, anything you choose to tell us about yourself, and an optional link to your CV.
- On your device only: your basket, your language choice and your checkout details are kept on your phone so the app remembers them. They are not sent to us until you place an order.
- Technical data: like any website, our server records your IP address with requests, which we use only to keep the service secure (for example, to stop someone guessing passwords or sending spam).
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or any payment card details. The app takes no payment: you pay at the counter, to the delivery rider, or by InstaPay.
How we use it
- To take, prepare and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
- To send order updates and one-time sign-in codes by WhatsApp.
- To keep your loyalty points and membership, and show them in the app, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet if you add your card there.
- To review your job application and contact you about it.
- To keep the service safe and running, and to keep the business records the law requires.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or track you across other apps and websites. The app contains no advertising or analytics trackers.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need to run the café, each using your information only on our behalf:
- Our hosting provider, which stores our database and runs our server.
- WhatsApp messaging (Meta, through Twilio), to send order updates and sign-in codes to your number.
- Apple and Google, only if you add your loyalty or membership card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
- Our image service, which delivers the menu photos to your device.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and saved addresses: until you delete your account.
- Orders, payments, loyalty and membership records: as long as we need them as business and tax records, even after an account is deleted.
- Job applications: until the role is filled, and no longer than 12 months — or sooner if you ask.
- Sign-in codes: a few minutes; they work once.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time in the app: Profile › Account settings › Delete my account. This removes your login and saved addresses straight away.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete your information, or to remove a job application, by messaging us on WhatsApp (below).
- Change your language, and sign out, whenever you like.
We handle personal data in line with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (No. 151 of 2020).
Security
Information travels to us over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, sign-in is protected against guessing, and only authorised café staff can see your details in our back office.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
